Directed by Hanna Assouline and Sonia Terrab, "Résister pour la Paix" is a poignant 60-minute documentary shot in 2023-2024. Against a backdrop of renewed violence since 7 October, this film reveals another reality, one that is often hushed up: the reality of Israeli and Palestinian men and women who choose peace.

On the roads to peace

The film takes us along the roads of Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Ramallah, Bethlehem, Bet Jallah, to the kibbutzes of southern Israel and the checkpoints of the West Bank. The two film-makers meet the men and women who, every day, take the risk of reaching out to others. They tell of their struggles, their pain, their humanity - and above all, their tireless commitment to a common future.

"Résister pour la Paix" was born out of a field trip undertaken by Hanna Assouline and Sonia Terrab, members of the Guerrières de la Paix movement, which campaigns for dialogue between Jews and Muslims, between Israelis and Palestinians, and against all forms of hatred.

A film by two committed activists

This film is a continuation of the activist and artistic work of its two authors, who have long been committed to human rights and social justice.

Hanna Assouline is a film-maker, journalist and founder of the Guerrières de la Paix movement, nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2024. A French Sephardic Jew of Moroccan origin, she actively campaigns for dialogue between Jews and Muslims, and against all forms of racism and anti-Semitism. Since 7 October 2023, she has redoubled her efforts to make a third way heard: that of peace, dialogue and solidarity. At her side, Moroccan director and writer Sonia Terrab, co-founder of the feminist movement Hors-la-loi / Moroccan Outlaws (Prix Simone de Beauvoir 2020), brings a free and courageous voice. From an Arab-Muslim background, she defends the rights of women and young people through hard-hitting documentaries.

Resisting for Peace is the result of their meeting, their shared struggles and their desire to make the Israeli and Palestinian voices of peace heard in a fractured world. The film has already won the Trophée de l'Engagement, awarded to Hanna Assouline and Sonia Terrab by the Mediaclub'Elles at the French National Assembly on 5 February 2025.
